The challenge

The world of plastic surgery is an ever-changing and specialized field of medicine, with new technologies and treatments emerging to help patients meet their aesthetic goals. However, the professionals who specialize in plastic surgery often struggle to promote their services and gain new clients. This case study follows the design process of a mobile application that helps plastic surgeons promote themselves and their services, provide relevant information to potential clients, and receive reviews from their satisfied patients. It aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the UI/UX design process, from the initial user research to the final design and development.

My role

As the sole designer on this project, I was responsible for the entire UI/UX design process. This included conducting user research to understand the needs of plastic surgeons and their clients, designing the user interface and user experience of the mobile application, and collaborating with the development team to ensure the design was implemented flawlessly. Throughout the project, I kept an open dialogue with the plastic surgeons and their clients to ensure the application was tailored to their needs. I also used data from user testing and feedback from the medical professionals to constantly refine and improve the design. Overall, it was an incredibly rewarding experience to see the design come to life and help plastic surgeons and their clients connect in a more meaningful way.

The goal

The ultimate goal of this project was to create a mobile application that would help plastic surgeons promote their services, provide relevant information to potential clients, and receive reviews from their satisfied patients. The application had to be intuitive and easy to use, so that both plastic surgeons and their clients could navigate the features quickly and effectively. Additionally, the design had to be visually appealing, so that potential clients would be attracted to the application and feel confident in the services provided by the plastic surgeons. Through the user research, design process, and implementation, the final goal of the project was achieved: an intuitive and visually appealing mobile application that helps plastic surgeons promote their services and get feedback from their clients.

User research: Research Goals & Target Audience

The user research for this project was conducted to gain a better understanding of the needs of plastic surgeons and their clients. The research goals included understanding what features the app should have, what information plastic surgeons should be able to provide, and what kind of feedback clients should be able to give. The target audience for this research was plastic surgeons and their clients, who were surveyed through online surveys, interviews, and focus groups. The feedback from the surveys and interviews was used to inform the design of the mobile application, so that it could be tailored to the needs of the plastic surgeons and their clients.

The potential market for this mobile application is plastic surgeons and their clients. The app is designed to help plastic surgeons promote their services and get feedback from their clients, so it is targeted at both groups. The demographic user group for this app is adults, specifically those looking for cosmetic treatments. The app is designed to appeal to potential clients who are interested in cosmetic procedures and are looking for qualified plastic surgeons in their area. It is also designed to appeal to plastic surgeons, so that they can easily promote their services and get feedback from their clients.

User research: Interview

The user research for this project included interviews with plastic surgeons and their clients. The interviews were conducted in order to gain a deeper understanding of the behavior of both groups when it comes to finding plastic surgeons and getting knowledge about them.The questions asked in the interviews included:

- How do you typically find plastic surgeons?
- What type of information do you look for when researching plastic surgeons?
- How important is the website/online presence of a plastic surgeon when it comes to deciding whether or not to use them?
- What kind of feedback do you typically look for when researching plastic surgeons?
- How important are reviews from other patients when it comes to deciding whether or not to use a particular plastic surgeon?

Design Process

The design process was informed by the user research conducted during the project. The user research helped to identify the needs of both plastic surgeons and their clients, which were then used to inform the design of the mobile application.The user research outputs were used to create personas for plastic surgeons and their clients, which were then used to create user stories for the application. The user stories were used to create wireframes and prototypes, which were then tested with users to refine the design.

The feedback from the user testing was used to make further refinements to the design before the development process began.

The overall process for this UI/UX design project was comprehensive and thorough. It included conducting user research to understand the needs of plastic surgeons and their clients, designing the user interface and user experience of the mobile application, and collaborating with the development team to ensure the design was implemented flawlessly.
